THE APPROACH

Church at the Barn

Church at the Barn is Operation 6:12’s own church, designed around helping broken people walk out of darkness. We believe the church is about family in Christ, and the  Church at the barn is a beautiful way for people to continue to be connected to this great family after graduation. Clients and their families as well as graduates and their families join with members of the community and supporters of Operation 6:12 to form a large and supportive church network.  We celebrate holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Fourth of July as well as events such as baptisms and weddings together. We have a service every week followed by a fellowship meal every other week. Once a quarter we ask the greater community and our entire 6:12 network to join us for a huge celebratory dinner and celebration of a life redeemed.

Outreach and giving back are very important in recovery and maintaining a healthy life. In view of this, the Church at the Barn members are divided into small pillar groups that meet weekly to share, discuss, and grow together. Larger discussion groups meet once a month to ensure that each person is provided adequate food for spiritual growth. Church at the Barn members are also involved with larger outreach activities providing care packages to impoverished communities, staffing relief operations after natural disasters, and providing financial assistance to associated ministries.

Bible Studies

Our daily Bible studies are far more than just learning the Scriptures, it is a time of interaction and a time of healing. This is when we take our real life problems and match them up against the infallible Word of God. It allows us the opportunity to encourage one other while we learn and have our minds transformed. While we were addicted, depressed, anxious, aggressive, or in destructive relationships, the negative influences to our minds were constant.  Now we do the same with Scripture - we inundate the mind with the life transforming Word of God. Bible studies also give us the opportunity to bring business leaders, teachers, counselors, and pastors from the local community to teach the word of God and to interact. This is a great way to make connections that will last a lifetime!

Life Alignment

The Life Alignment program is a custom-made counseling approach designed for Operation 6:12.  It combines counseling and Biblical principles to help clients align their lives with God’s design. Regular psychoeducation sessions focus on strategies and techniques that help individuals identify, understand, and surrender their self-defeating patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior.

Group sessions are supplemented with individual sessions with our licensed professional counselor.

Biblical Counseling

The program directors as well as the directors of the men’s and women’s facilities are adept at Biblical counseling and provide individual support when needed. Additional Biblical counseling is provided in the form of temperament coaching using the Arno Profile System, which helps clients gain valuable insight into their needs, patterns, challenges, and strengths.

Work Program

Operation 6:12 is committed to providing healing and the opportunity to experience freedom to everyone. This means that the program is free to anyone who wants to come - there is no cost to the individual or to his/her insurance. In order to cover costs, the organization functions as an employee leasing agency, providing work for clients to pay for their stay at the residential facilities.

However, our work program provides far more than a free treatment opportunity. It allows us to explore the issues that our clients have in the workplace such as their attitude towards authority figures, their work ethic, and commitment to independence and discipline. Many clients have not worked for a long period of time and have a need to acquire skills in order to establish a resume.

Our work program allows for constructive mental and physical activity to assist in the transformation of mind, body, and spirit. We have seen many of our clients rise to levels that they never thought  they would or could. This provides restoration of hope and confidence. Upon graduation clients are given a check to help them re-enter society. Operation 6:12 is there every step of the way to provide long-term support and follow-up for as long as clients choose.

Prayer Night

Prayer night is a favorite of all of our clients. It is a time of worship - to meet God on an experiential level - and also a time to pray for one another.  At our prayer nights we often see emotional, spiritual and physical healing.

Off The Wall Ministries

Off The Wall Discipleship provides a healthy environment and community for young adults from all over the country and other parts of the world to learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. They have a staff of gifted Bible teachers who have a passion to guide and mentor the young adults that God brings their way. Their vision is to see young adults mature in their understanding of God’s Word, their participation in God’s Mission, and their transformation into God’s Character.

Operation 6:12 has been blessed to partner with this ministry. Our clients are able to attend and engage in weekly classes during their time at Operation 6:12. Through these classes they will learn about the character and leadership of Jesus, their identity in Christ, what salvation is and means for them, how to study the Bible, and ultimately what the call is to make fishers of men.

Another benefit of this partnership lies in the fact that both ministries feature cultural and geographical diversity.  Clients get to know people who are different from themselves, changing their perspective and growing their understanding of the world in which they live.

Mission School

As an extension of our partnership with Harvest of Hope Africa in Nairobi, Operation 6:12 has expanded its vision of discipleship to include missionary training for clients who choose to follow a full-time calling in service of God. Clients who are interested in going to Third World mission fields are taught sustainable building techniques, farming practices, and natural remedies and healing practices.
